I wrote a short "getting to know Clarke" piece for work.
I'm surprised at how surprised I am by this q & a
It’s a hot, sunny Christmas day, (this is in New Zealand), and we went for a family drive to a beach where we picked clams. It’s 1975ish and I’m about 6. On the way back my Dad spots a car broken down on the side of the road, he stops and spends an hour or so fixing their car.
I didn’t like it at the time – it was very hot, we were kids trapped in the back of a car while my Dad helped strangers rescue their Christmas day, while ours felt like it was ruined – but now I do.
That incident sums up a lot about where I came from and who I am.
A suggestion: try answering the question for yourself.
