So … I leave GE in 2 weeks. What with my notice period, my redundancy payment and my unused vacation pay, I have about 6 months pay coming to me in a lump sum. Plus, the job market for what I do is pretty good right now so I'm not worried about life …
In fact, I'm really rather pleased with myself.
Last Xmas my family and I went to New Zealand to visit my family. On the way there Emirates airline very rudely bumped us and we had to fly Dubai to Auckland a day late (and I had to pay to rebook my connections). In "compensation" they gave us free round trips from Dubai to Auckland which really annoyed me at the time because I thought I'd never, ever get to use the tickets.
I was so annoyed that I swore I'd never fly Emirates again ...
But now, of course, completely unexpectedly, I can use them and I can do so on works time!
I'm taking my 2 kids to New Zealand for about 3 weeks.
They don't know it yet. Winnie, my wife, can't come with us and she's already missing them (didn't mention if she's missing me, or not, but I assume so). And my parents are delighted.
So … things are all turning out rather cool!
