So … I’ve lived in Scotland for over 10 years now. I don’t really care much about the politics. That may soon change, though, because the people of Scotland will shortly vote yes or no for independence.
The arguments for or against independence seem to boil down to 2 questions: (1) will it make the people of Scotland poorer or richer (2) where should Scottish people’s loyalties lie - to the United Kingdom as a whole or to Scotland only. I’m simplifying … and I truly don’t don’t know what the answer should be.
One thing I have been pondering, though, is this: what would Scottish people think if England wanted independence from the rest of the UK?
I do have an opinion about that: I’d be very, very annoyed.
It’s far easier being the dumper than the dumpee.
