It is a beautiful day here in Scotland and I've taken my ipod for a walk rather than rewriting my book. The book is about forecasting (or, rather, the dangers of believing your plans and specs are facts when they're really forecasts) and when I saw this mornings weather forecast I decide to walk amongst the weather while it lasted. If you're not familiar with Scottish weather then just know that old people still talk about the nice summer of '75 and today I've heard 2 people say "Four days in a row" which is how many day's its been sunny.
So I'm listening to Michael Connelly's new book "The Scarecrow". There's a character in it called Declan McGuiness. I thought the name was familiar but it took me a while to figure out when. He wasn't a character from an earlier book - something Connelly often does - but rather a character from my own book. My Declan is based on my brother in law Declan who likes Guiness. He was tickled pink when I named the character after him and his favourite brew but now I'm wondering if I should rename him. Not sure.
I'm feeling sunburnt.
