I’m diabetic and earlier this week my Doctor told me I had to lose weight.
I asked him “How? Is there a simple way? Apart from the obvious, that is?”
“Well”, he said, “It’s basic physics …”
“Eat less and exercise more?”, I asked.
He nodded.
Last weeks British Medical Journal, titled “Move a little more, eat a little less” has an article “Prognosis in obestiy” by Professsor M E J Lean.
Ignoring the professors humourous surname, it had a concluded:
The necessary changes are small: 90% of obesity in the United States could be abolished by walking an extra 2000 steps a day [0.418MJ] and reducing intake by 0.418MJ per day [the equivalent of 2 biscuits according to the journals editorial]
