The Cutter Consortium has just asked me to fill out a “short” online survey. In exchange I get a free pdf and access to the survey’s results.
They send me these invites every so often and sometimes I’m interested in the free pdf and I do the survey.
But the problem is that the survey is too long and it’s too hard to answer correctly, so I end up doing 1 of 2 things:
- I get half way through and I decide I don’t want the pdf that much so I quit and feel annoyed at having my time wasted.
- I get half way through and I decide I don’t want the pdf so I start putting in garbage just to get the thing over and done with quickly. I feel aweful for doing it, but I’ve already invested a good bit of my time with the suvey and I want the pdf.
I no longer believe any of the survey results that I see from Cutter
… which is sad because they produce some excellent reports and summaries.
