My MBA dissertation in PDF

Late last month I completed my MBA dissertation. Here it is in pdf form, with all references to my employer removed.

I'm thrilled with it but:

  • It's written to PASS an MBA course so it's written in an academic style.
  • I've simplified things a lot so that it's easier to mark by people who may not be IT literate. So, it's not a complete and utter analysis because that would have been too hard to mark (or do justice within 10,000 words).
  • It's primarily written to be useful. The recommendations are genuine and I've started discussing them with our senior management BUT the downsizing was announced days after I handed it over, so they have temporarily lost interest.
  • This might sound strange given my obvious (I hope) passion for AGILE, but I tried very very very hard to not present AGILE as the solution. Where I work if people hear AGILE they think XP and they think cowboys. Instead I recommended incremental delivery (using Scrum) - when you read the anlaysis it's obvious that the waterfall approach is what's killing our projects and incremental delivery is the obvious solution.
  • Since I've paid for my MBA out of my own pocket and I'm likely to be downsized I'm starting to look for a new job.

Please don't tell me about any spelling mistakes.  I'm too fragile :)

Good luck on your job search

Danger, danger!! Clarke this almost looks like a resignation letter :-).

I'll need to read over the dissertation to see how they could utilise SCRUM in a large organisation with potentially bigger teams and people who may work on multiple teams.

Now if "The Employer" ever requires CSMs, I know of a few who can help them out ;-).

If possible, please email me your MBA dissertation, for your term career.

Hello! I found this site when typing "MBA dissertation" in the google search engine. :o) I just want to congratulate you on completing your MBA dissertation. I am about to start mine and am trying to find a subject. I have 3 (!) months to do it, so this will be interesting... Anyway, nice to see that they can be completed and good luck on finding a new job!

Hi, i get the link from a contact in xing, I´m actually work on my masterthesis about Critical Chain Pm and Toc for software developing projects.

Three questions ?

1. Is this 29 pages pdf your whole Thesis, i must write more than 80 pages :-(

2. Did you evaluate or check software that support pm software like project ? If yes, which software and maybe you can send me your results.

3. What is your conclusion, now when I do the half of my work I think CCPM is not a very good option für developing projects.

Regards from germany

Matz

Anyone out there to help me with my MBA dissertation?

Thanks

Clark, thanks for putting up the dissertation, and I look forward to reading it. I'm sure a lot of good thinking gets done for Masters dissertations, in whatever field, and its a rare treat to be able to get hold of them.
